Letter to BJP Leaders, Legislators and Hindu Nationalists
Subject: Majority concerns
must be addressed in Election manifesto for forthcoming state elections, as well
as for the Parliamentary elections early next year
Aadarniya BJP Leaders,
Aadarniya BJP Legislators,
Aadarniya Hindu Nationalists
It is our earnest hope that
the opportunities presented by the ongoing political turmoil are used by the
nationalist political forces constructively for bringing about the “change of
regime” so desperately needed in the country. The BJP primarily depends on
Hindu votes yet it is mind boggling to see that it does not highlight the
concerns of Hindus in its pre- election manifesto in comparison to how the other
political parties focus on issues relevant to minorities. Surely we are not
suggesting for any ultra-legal favors for Hindus. On the contrary our aim is to
end discrimination and persecution against them, which is either embedded in
laws or practiced by the so- called secularists to weaken and like colonialists
divide Hindus to control them. Many of these issues are doable, necessary and
required for establishing equality. Urgent issues like terrorism, autonomy of
temples, Parliament's approval and ratification of international treaties,
ending unconstitutional reservations and politically motivated patronization of
minority communities must also find a prominent place in the BJP manifesto.
With its goal to govern
India, BJP should be
forthright and straight forward to manifest the vision of majoritarianism
for strengthening the real democracy in the country as against minorityism
promoted by the secularists. The party must liberate itself from the shackles of
shyness in expressing solidarity with nation’s majority.
1)
Parliamentary ratification a must for International Treaties and the nuclear
deals: The
Govt.'s lack of openness and transparency against the norms in a democratic
society, refusal to discuss in the Parliament and virtually surrendering India's
sovereignty and security through the so-called nuclear deal and the tainted vote
in the Parliament makes it essential that the Constitution be amended so as to
prevent such treaties from becoming laws without the Parliament’s ratification
as in other established democracies. Utilizing the defective and undemocratic
legal maneuvering
India has been
brought under the extreme limitations of the nuclear non proliferation treaty by
the back door. In this connection it would be instructive to note India's stand
earlier in 1967. “Mr. Rahjeshwar Dayal, the then foreign Secretary,
asserted that
India would never give up
an iota of hard-fought independence by signing the NPT... Let everyone stop
their aid. India would survive. The important thing was to protect the nation’s
freedom and independence from foreign domination, whatever the source and
whatever the guise.”

2)
Preferential treatment & favoritism for Muslims by Govt. is unconstitutional and
promotes separatism & national disintegration.
a) The official
commitment in favor of unconstitutional and privileged treatment of the Muslim
minority further symbolized by the politically motivated Sachar Report, Prime
Minister's commitment for first preference to Muslims, his 15 point plan for the
Muslims; and enforcing a communal quota system in employment and even at the
topmost technical and management institutions - not practiced
by any other country is highly dangerous.
Such naked discriminatory policies have the potential of leading the country
towards re-dismemberment. The uncalled for and unconstitutional largesse amounts
to open bribery and class war, initiated by Congress, for clinging to power.
The
intolerance shown by the Kashmiri Muslims towards the temporary use of even 100
acres of land for facilitating the Amarnath pilgrimage and growing number
of "‘no-go’ areas carved out by Muslims against Hindus in many towns and cities,
including Ahmedabad and Kolkatta, across India make it essential that the BJP
commit itself to setting up a commission that will address the issue of
financial support on the basis of "need but not creed". The implementation
of the Sachar report will make the "no- go" areas for Hindus everywhere and this
adverse development must be reversed immediately.
Hindus must
not forget that in 1946 "The Muslim League, led by Mohammed Ali Jinnah, launched
'Direct Action' on August 16 to convince the British that Hindus and Muslims
could not coexist in the same country and hence
India must be
partitioned. A 23-point tactical manifesto was distributed to League
activists. Some of the points read as: "Destroy Hindus and drive all Hindus out
of
India.
All transport should be used for battle against Hindus. Hindu women and girls
should be raped, kidnapped and converted into Muslims from October 18, 1946.
Hindu culture should be destroyed."
Thanks to the Congress led UPA regime this is exactly what the Muslim Govt. has
done in J&K state. Furthermore, the Muslims are being well positioned to promote
this divisive strategy across India.
b) The facilities for Haj
pilgrimage by Hindu
India are unmatched - not even the Islamic countries provide such patronage:
India
provides an airfare subsidy to more than 100,000 pilgrims selected by the Haj
Committee of India who go for Haj annually. According to official figures, this
subsidy was Rs 280 crores in 2006 or about Rs 28,000 per pilgrim. Today, with
rising fuel prices, this figure would have gone up to Rs 350-400 crores.
For Haj 2007,
a contingent of 115 doctors (including 63 specialists with post-graduate
degrees) and 141 nurses and other para-medical staff, 3 coordinators, 46
assistant Haj officers, 165 Haj assistants and 186 Khadimul Hujjaj were sent
from India on short-term deputation to Saudi Arabia. Special attention is given
to medical facilities for the pilgrims.
It is not the
Central Govt. alone that has been lavishly spending Hindu taxpayer’s money on
Haj subsidy -- almost all State Governments have set up Haj houses. In fact, the
State Governments across the country spend roughly about Rs 1,000 crore annually
for the Haj pilgrims. The government in
Delhi
is constructing a six storey Haj house at a cost of Rs. 30 crores.
The federal and
state governments spend some Rs.1,500 crores annually. What other government’s,
including the Muslim regimes, in the world gives such a preferential treatment
to Muslim community?
(see also
attachment B)
After the Haj
in the
land of
Wahabbies and intense exclusionary religious exposure they could only be
expected to be more inclined to follow the radical Islam and align with Jihadis.
We have not heard anyone, out of tens of lakhs of them who availed of this
favor, ever pleading for coexistence, secularism or now allowing Hindus use of
100 acres of land for Amarnath pilgrims. Where is the logic in using Hindu
tax payer’s money for encouraging a separatist and anti-Hindu culture?
3) The Islamic
siege of
India is an
integral part of creating the “Nizam-e- Mustafa:” India
now exhibits all the political and psychological symptoms of a defeated society.
The unprecedented protests in
Jammu
have been greeted with surprise across the board precisely because they are
exceptional - Hindus taking a stand in unison for defending their turf. But the
overall situation in India is that of dismay. The economic success of India in
recent years and the resulting additional resources at the disposal of the
Indian State are not relevant to the grievous outcome threatening it.
India is
undergoing outright warfare, with its cities bombed at will and massive
infiltration across its borders. The Pakistani rationale for cutting India down
to size has rarely faltered since 1947 and echoes a much older Islamic
tradition...... The Saudis are the main source of the catalytic funding for the
jihad that is threatening to break India’s political will and seemingly
succeeding.....Within India, scores of mosques and Madrasas serve as the fifth
column that provides critical support for the ongoing internal subversion and
aggression. Their role is to cultivate passive and active support for the
Islamic onslaught.... The economic sabotage of counterfeit currency produced
by Pakistani government agencies is another aspect of the Islamic onslaught that
has the virtue of making Indians themselves defray the cost of jihad.
The first
major Indian city likely to come under the total sway of Islam is Kolkata since
its demographics are changing rapidly, with whole areas being abandoned by
Hindus and becoming ‘no-go’ Muslim areas.
Bangladesh,
which is contemptuous of Hindu India as a pushover denies the very notion of
infiltration because its Muslims never accepted the legitimacy of the partition
settlement. They believe that the
Assam,
West Bengal that Jinnah originally demanded, should and will belong to the
Islamic Republic of Bangladesh. (Gautam Sen, Organiser, Aug 24, 2008)
4)
ASSAULT ON HINDUISM IN
INDIA: Govt.
control of Hindu religious infrastructure is the instrument of decimating Hindu
religion and culture.
The
demolition of the Hindu religious infrastructure by many state governments
continues with ferocity by usurping the control of temples under the illegally
enacted lawless laws. Their administration has been transferred to officials
without accountability, religious training, transparency and community
supervision. The abundance of available evidence has proved beyond any doubt
that under government control, the Hindu temples have not only been
exploited injuriously but are also being driven to their ultimate extinction.
Here are a few examples:
a)
In
Andhra Pradesh, a
state where non- transparency and non-accountability for Hindu endowments under
Govt. management is a rule rather than exception, utilizes the huge resources of
TTD for many non-Hindu purposes. This Govt. executed loot takes place without
any legitimate or constitutional authority. The World Famous Tirupathi Tirumala
Temple receives an annual income of Rs. Three Thousand one hundred Crores in the
form of direct cash collected from various sources. In the Financial year
2005-06, the TTD collected 2400 Kilograms of Gold 2,33,000 Kgs of Silver and
543 Kgs of other Precious Stones including Diamonds, Rubies etc. from the
devotees. How and where such enormously large amounts were used for the benefit
of the community or for promotion of its religion has never been revealed. In
the absence of any factual and public explanation how can one trust the
authorities whose anti-Hindu antecedents are already well established? It is
now learnt that the TTD authorities have given up depositing the cash in the
four banks as was the practice till two years ago. No one knows where
the massive amount goes! (also see attachment C)
According to an official pronouncements the A.P. Govt. is going all out for
taking over the entire body of Hindu religious institutions. The Endowment
Minister, Shri Diwakar Reddy, announced on
March 12,
2007
that his Govt. has decided to takeover all temples, mutts and religious
trusts in the state. Additionally, the state Govt. was planning to
amend the AP Endowments Act to enable the endowments commissioner to oversee the
day-to-day administration of mutts. It clearly amounts to Hinduism being made a
“keep of the state” in A.P. Thus Hindus will have no say as to how their
religious institutions will be run and they will be at the mercy of seemingly a
fanatic Christian CM, who in spite of having taken the oath to function under a
secular constitution, does everything to de- Hinduise and Christianize the
state.
The world famous TTD with massive income of over Rs. three thousand crores and
vast endowments properties and Hindu educational institutions have been
infiltrated, particularly by Christians under the patronage of CM Rajashekhar
Samuel Reddy. There were reports of protests and tension at TTD's Sri Padmavathi
Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) on March 14, 2007, against university vice
chancellor, Veena nobel Das, for the alleged propagation of Christianity in the
varsity and the suicide of a first year post-graduate student, K. Uma Maheswari,
in the varsity hostel room against conversion.
b)
In
Kerala:
the Govt. hastily promulgated an ordinance on
February 4,
2007 to disband The Travancore and Cochin Autonomous Devaswom Boards (TCDB) and
usurped their authority. The timing, intent and integrity of the said ordinance
was extremely suspicious and questionable particularly in view of the impending
session of the State Assembly and the existence of a 3 man commission appointed
by the High Court for investigating the allegations of corruption.
After
dismissing the existing temple boards, Govt. appointed new Board Members chosen
by the Ministers and MLAs, allegedly filling these positions with communists
thereby assigning Hindu religious institutions to irreligious political
operatives. Henceforth the temple staff is to be recruited by the communist led
Kerala Govt’s Public service commission.
In the same
fiscal year Secular Kerala’s treasury was filled with Rs 268 crore solely by the
revenue from
Temples
under Travancore Devaswom Board, Cochin Devaswom Board and Guruvayur Devaswom.
How much of this money was used for temple maintenance and Hindu causes is not
revealed.
According to
the latest reports out of tens of thousands of temples that have abnormally been
rendered dysfunctional only a few hundred are currently fully operational. As if
that was not enough, under the Kerala Land Reforms Act, 13,000 acres of
Guruvayoor’s land has been reduced to 230 acres amounting to 98% land loot. The
revenue of this Hindu entity is subject to misuse even loot by the state
authorities. In order to appease the officially inspired Christian protesters
and promote their electoral base the officials unilaterally abandoned the
construction of railway line from Kottayam to Erumeli to Hindu Hill Shrine.
c) In
Tamil Nadu:
Through the outright abuse of Govt. power, two top Hindu institutions - H.H.
Shankaracharya and the Kanchi Mutt, have been marginalized and rendered
dysfunctional. H.H. Shankaracharya, whose status is higher than that of the
Pope for Hindus, was arrested on Diwali night in November 2004. He was
humiliated, put in jail without bail and treated like a common criminal. Such a
barbaric action against the most revered leader of the highly civilized and
non-violent faith was tantamount to a serious assault on Hindu religion and its
leadership. It is almost four years now and neither the case against him has
been proven nor has he been exonerated. There are serious allegations that heavy
corruption and bribery was involved in getting him arrested and getting the
anti- conversion Act repealed in Tamil Nadu.
The statue of
E V Ramasamy Naicker - Periyar for the devotees of Dravidianism has been allowed
to be installed in front of the Rajagopuram of Srirangam temple. He was a known
Hindu-baiter and will obviously hurt the sentiments of many. He was a man who
made a life out of mocking the Hindu sensibilities and sentiments but he did
that in his individual capacity. Now by installing his statue where Hindus
congregate in large numbers, Hindu sentiments are deeply hurt. Even the Govt.
seems to have given institutionalized legitimacy to his provocative acts.
And of
course, the TN Govt.'s insistence on demolishing Ram Sethu is well known as
another example of the anti-Hindu political mindset.
......
and so
on, in many other states
Nationwide, the famous
temples of Jagannath Puri, Tirupati, Kashi Vishwanath, Vaishno Devi, Shirdi ,
Siddhi Vinayaka, Guruvayoor, Chamunda Devi, Dattapeeth, Kali Mandir of Patiala,
Amarnath, Badrinath, Kedarnath, etc. have already been brought under the Govt.
control. Their management is under the authority of non-religious and frequently
anti-Hindu hands.
5) Govt.
control denies temples of their vital Functions - dharmik education and unifying
the community:
The temples are not just for rituals by purohits but also the centers of
community's socio-cultural and religious life, a place of learning with Acharya,
for community sewa, dharma prachar and for character building. The exposition of
the grandeur of Hinduism - its Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayana, Mahabharata, the
Bhagwad Geeta - its glorious ancient culture, spirituality and values that the
community would like to project and propagate - would not only be denied by the
control of a secular state, but the deliberate and irreversible Govt. actions in
liquidating and diverting resources of endowments meant for sustenance in
perpetuity could stop these all together.
Temple
resources and offerings must be used for the pujaris, social work and for the
benefit of the community as the other religionists do. These are also for dharma
raksha, dharma shiksha and sewa work like education, etc. that they used to do
in ancient times, but cannot do now under the tutelage of autocratic system of
management.
6) Govt.
Control of Temples violates Laws of the Land:
The Govt. is charged with the responsibility of upholding the law and enhancing
the freedom of religion but in the present case the state is openly violating
such laws by robbing the Hindus of their 'Religious Rights' as guaranteed under
the Indian Constitution. To reverse the adverse impact of these extra-judicial
activities by the states some of the major High Courts in the country have given
a few profound judgments:
a) In
Karnataka, a division bench of the High Court comprising of Justice R
Gururajan and Justice C R Kumaraswamy struck down the Endowment Act stating that
the legislation violated Articles 14, 25 and 26 of the Constitution which
provided for right to equality, freedom of conscience and freedom of profession,
practice and propagation of religion and also the freedom to manage the
religious affairs;
b) The
Allahabad
High Court
directed the Central and Uttar Pradesh authorities to prepare a scheme for
establishing a Board for Hindu religious organizations on the pattern of the UP
Muslim Waqf Board. It would be appropriate and legally prudent for other state
governments to also follow the intent and judgments issued by these highest
judicial bodies; and
c) Anticipating possible dishonorable designs in various administrations the
Indian Parliament adopted a law in 1991 specifically requiring that -"the
status of religious places, as on
August 15,
1947
shall be retained".
The state governments are duty bound to uphold this commitment made by a
national law and let the religious places remain outside Govt. Control as they
were in 1947. In case of conflicts or contradictions between the state and
national laws traditionally and judicially the national law enjoys the
precedence.
7) The Govt.
must restore community’s role in temple management through Hindu Advisory
Councils:
Such Councils could play significant role in oversight and decision making
process of the endowments department and temple Trusts. Additionally these
Councils – elected, nominated or combination of both, brought to life by the
Community, state and national religious leaders - could shoulder these
responsibilities while maintaining complete transparency. They could also with
immediate effect stop desecration and decimation of the religious
infrastructures
under Govt.
control, pending denationalization, and till autonomous boards are constituted
for taking over the charge. Such Councils could also help arrangements at
temples and avoid fatal incidents like the recent one at Naina Devi temple.
A committee
headed by former Justice Rama Jois has submitted its report to Karnataka
government. The spirit and recommendations of this report should help initiate
formation of interim Councils in all states, followed by Hindu Boards, after
inviting comments from Hindu leaders, activists, pujaris, jurists, etc. Though
the report is not yet made public, knowledgeable sources believe that it has
suggested the formation of Boards preferably headed by a former Judge, who could
evaluate and balance the requirements of all concerned.
Mr. Advani,
in his letter of August 13 on the Amarnath issue addressed to the Prime
Minister, asserted that "The mandate of Article 26 (Constitution) is that it is
for the religious denominations to establish and maintain its religious places
and to manage the affairs of their religion. It is entitled to acquire movable
and immovable properties and administer them in accordance with law. It is
precisely on account of the mandate of Article 26 that the SGPC manages the
affairs of Sikh religious institutions, the Wakf Board looks after the affairs
of Muslim religious institutions and Shrine Boards as also the various religious
endowments are managing Hindu religious institutions under various statutory
enactments."
Mr. Advani and the BJP leadership seem oblivious that Hindu religious
institutions are under highly mismanaged and abusive Govt. control in most of
the states, including those run by the BJP. Therefore, it will make better
sense if the BJP urgently starts the process of restoration of autonomous
management.
Numerous pleas made by us in this regard over the years have regrettably been
ignored. Even at this late stage the BJP has an opportunity of showing
leadership by taking prompt action on the issue.
8)
End Persecution of Hindus by taking legislative measures on the following:
a) Take
off temples from the concurrent list of the Constitution that allows
prejudiced and anti- Hindu politicians to usurp temples and their endowments and
thereby virtually demolish the basic Hindu infrastructure. No Government
should have authority to take over temples and their endowments. That
way parity can be established between the Hindu religious institutions and those
of Muslims and Christians. For ready reference no religious institutions of
Muslims and Christians have been taken over by any Govt.
b) The
Article 30 of the Constitution should be amended as it allows benefits to
only minorities in education, etc. Such benefits should be equally applicable to
all communities as is the case in many countries including
USA. In its
present form the law is divisive and generates disunity and fragmentation
amongst Hindus. In order to gain these benefits many groups including Jains have
started claiming to be non- Hindus;
c) Pass a
law recognizing sovereign status of world famous saints like Kanchi
Shankaracharya. In the interest of religious and social harmony such persons
should not be taken in to custody like common criminals. It is a shame that the
present Kanchi Shankarachrya has not been exonerated even after four years of
making attempts by the state Govt. to convict him.
d) Amend Constitution to
require parliamentary ratification of all international treaties. This
amendment should clearly specify that only the Parliament being a sovereign body
and custodian of nation’s sovereignty has power to transform international
treaties into laws. And that no international treaty can be a law or binding
upon the nation without the ratification by the national parliament. The recent
intransigence and contempt demonstrated by the Govt. of the national legislature
and subsequent tainted vote on the Nuclear Deal has brought to the fore the need
for such a law. In this Deal the Govt. was literally capitulated under the
pressure of foreign governments and lobbyists in accepting a subordinate status
while simultaneously compromising national sovereignty. In 1967
India’s policy was
diametrically opposed to her current subservience, as indicated by the above
declaration of the then foreign secretary.
e) Enactment of laws to
recognize need and not creed as basis for Govt. aid. Such laws must
specifically state that Govt. assistance shall be available only on the basis of
need and not creed. This should immediately lead to scrapping off the
politically motivated Sachar Committee Recommendations which are being
used by anti- national politicians for manipulating and purchasing minority
votes; and,
f) Enactment of
stringent Laws against terrorism, jihad and illegal infiltration.
India being the home of the
second largest Muslim population in the world must make it abundantly clear
jihad, terrorism and militancy are not permissible in her jurisdiction. Such a
bold, brave and clear statement by the Govt. will put the internal as well as
external trouble makers on notice about the extra ordinary consequences they may
face if they violate the law of the land.
9) Hon'ble BJP
Leaders, legislators and Hindu Nationalists: Please unite the Hindus, give
priority to their concerns and liberate the nation from the hands of the
anti-Hindu secularists.
As
socio-political pragmatists
we strongly
urge that these concerns of the Hindu majority be highlighted appropriately in
the election manifesto for the forthcoming states and Parliamentary elections.
An official
intent and declaration about them need to be made before September 5,
when the Election Commission announces its election schedule and thereafter
political parties will be forbidden to publicize any plans for elector’s
benefits (sops).
Three issues are
highlighted here; a) religion based largesse and the Sachar report
implementation must end; b) temples and endowments must be restored to the Hindu
community governance; and c) Laws must be amended and/ or enacted for stopping
discrimination against Hindus under the theme " One
nation- one law.”
To be realistic and
believable, the BJP should make a commitment to the majority community in its
manifesto and simultaneously set up commissions with dedicated and talented
personnel for detailed study and sustained work for the development and
implementation of policy on these important issues that have been the source of
deep resentment amongst Hindus.
The BJP should
painstakingly explain to the general public particularly the Hindu masses the
source of the problems confronted by the nation: Those problems include:
preferential treatment to Muslims resulting in encouragement to SIMI activists
and Jihadists for exploding bombs and killing the innocent people anywhere
anytime; Insulting Lord Ram and demolition of Ram Sethu; arrest of Kanchi
Shankarachrya, farmers suicides; relegating India to subordinate status through
an unequal nuclear deal. The single most important source of all these problems
is none other than the Congress led UPA Govt. in collaboration with Islamists at
home and power hungry imperialists abroad.
The
Amarnath
Land
issue points to
a situation in Mahabharata, when Kauravas would not consent to let Pandavas
have even five villages. During our time it has provided a much needed wake up
call to Hindus and the BJP. Sons and daughters of India are calling you to stand
up and perform your duty as Hindus. The challenge before us is not only of
scoring a stunning victory in the elections but also to defend the fast eroding
civilization, territorial integrity and freedom of the Indian nation. The war of
independence fought bravely by our nation was for building a nation of free and
independent people. For over a hundred years people made millions upon millions
of sacrifices. If the BJP follows that path of “selfless service and sacrifice”
it will not only find itself in the seats of power but also as a powerful engine
spearheading India’s much needed transformation for becoming a power to be
reckoned with.

For the
convenience of pilgrims, charter flights are operated directly from 16 airports
in
India to Saudi Arabia. Returning pilgrims can transport 10 liters of holy Zam
Zam water with them free of cost. At
Delhi
airport there is a separate Haj terminal. To improve the comfort of pilgrims,
Air
India has been advised to use wide-body jets in future for their Haj flights.
There is a
separate Haj cell in the ministry of external affairs. The Haj Committee of
India has its own premises in Mumbai. Similarly the State Haj Committees have
their own premises in various other Indian cities. These facilities have been
built on land provided by the state governments. Yet the Muslims and their
Kashmir government denied a mere 100 acres of forest land for building temporary
shelter for Amarnath bound Pilgrims!
For the
Muslims however, the Govt. provided accommodation in
Mecca
and Medina is decided by keeping in mind the need to provide maximum convenience
and comfort to the pilgrims. Typically, all accommodation has lifts, telephones,
running water, electricity and telephone at the minimum. There is total
computerization of pilgrim location and movement. During Haj, a large contingent
of seasonal local staff, supervisors, data entry operators, as well as drivers
and messengers (whose job is to round up and bring home safely elderly pilgrims
who may have got lost) is appointed by the consulate general of India, Jeddah,
during the Haj period.

Andhra Pradesh
Govt.'s continuing blitzkrieg against Hinduism with misuse of temple funds seems
a policy of looting temples for bringing down Hinduism.
Injurious Governance:
There prevail serious charges that 85% of temple revenues are illegally
transferred to the state exchequer for funding a fat-filled ministry with 77,000
bureaucrats to supposedly manage 33,000 temples while leaving many pujaris
penniless and starving. Some time ago, the AP Govt. engineered the entry of JRG
Wealth Management Limited, an organization owned by Christians, into the
decision making and procurement process of "Prasadam" materials for use in
Tirupati temple. Furthermore, the criminal destruction of centuries old historic
Mandapam at TTD with official participation that has been universally condemned
by all Hindu ranks and it has generated enormous resentment!
Shrine at TIRUPATHI

The
World Famous
Tirupathi Tirumala Temple is under complete control by the ruling government of
Andhra Pradesh. The Temple is receiving an annual income of Rs. 31,00,00,00,000
(Three Thousand one hundred Crores) in the form of direct cash collected from...
a) Hundi Collections
b) Donations towards Annadanam Scheme
c) Large amount of donations collected from Devotees who have
donated more than 5 Lakh of Rupees
d) Thula Bharam
e) Renting out 12,000 Cottages to devotees on Daily basis
f) Sale of Prasadam (including Ladoos)
g) Leasing of premises to commercial establishments including
shops & Hotels on the Hills
h) Profit from Export of Tonsured hairs of Devotees
i) Profits from TTD Publications
j) Income generated from sale of Sewa Tickets
k) Television Rights
Apart from
this The TTD is also generating income in the form of collecting & Pledging the
same for Government schemes
In
the Financial year 2005-06, The TTD collected 2400 Kilograms of Gold 2,33,000
Kgs of Silver and 543 Kgs of Other Precious Stones including Diamonds, Rubies
etc. were collected from Devotees.
Unwarranted & illegal
Actions :
Against the spirit of the law, strong opposition and wishes of the Hindu
community the AP government wants to: a) take away Rs 500 crores from TTD (Tirupathi
Tirumala Devasthanam) supposedly for irrigation projects on top of the Rs.1,500
crores it already owes them; b) build a ropeway at TTD for turning the sacred
shrine into a tourist attraction thus commercializing and desecrating the deeply
revered shrine and vitiating its religious sanctity; These highly provocative,
unsettling and expeditious measures amongst many others like the demolition of
1000 pillar Mandapam, are being taken without any public debate or the approval
of the Hindu community, who are the real owners.
